This kitchen had custom made cabinets which needed modernizing but were hand made pieces worth keeping. We reused some of the wood, updated the hardware and made new pieces to match the older looking ones. A combination of ingenuity and talent and hard work. Using maple and Brazilian cherry (jatoba) this herringbone pattern floor, surrounded by a border gives a unique look to this kitchen floor. Notice the marble floor in bathroom completed recently. Marble is a soft stone, has a “softer” feel than ceramic, and has the varied colors of natural stone. However, marble also is less resistant to impact (think dropped items) and over time will have “love marks”. Some people don’t like that…
