Casa Buena Builders has been very active in the reconstruction and restoration of historic buildings for our community. Such was the case with the house located at 146 Sayles St in Woonsocket. The idea behind renovating this house was to give back to the community, as the first floor is set to become a community arts center, and the second floor a space to accommodate visitors and special guests attending the various artistic training programs offered by the city. As rewarding as it was to prepare this project for its inauguration, it also came with major challenges. Structurally, the building was severely deteriorating; all ceilings, plumbing, facades, and even outdoor gardens were in a very poor state. In short, the house at Sayles St. needed a complete restoration.
The flooring on the first and second levels was also completely renovated. On the first floor, a small modification was made to the north facade and the bathrooms. We tore down an exterior wall, extended the porch, and installed a roof over the extended outdoor area.
On the second floor, work was done to completely renovate the tiled roofs and modify the rooms by demolishing and redoing the wall division panels. This remodeling process allowed for a better use of the space, which now includes a kitchen, a living room, and four bedrooms with a bathroom in each. In the exterior areas, we rebuilt the access platform, the bridge, and stairs; and we also installed new roofs and windows.
The whole team at Casa Buena Builders is very proud of how the Sayles St. house turned out! We remain committed to further improving more historic buildings and houses in our state.
