Sharing knowledge with the new generations

We are happy to share with you that one of our dreams has come true, train new generations of restorers to give continuity to the maintenance and improvement of the historic houses of our beautiful community.

Casa Buena Builders has been invited to join a nine-week program at the municipally-owned Hopkins House (1756), which has variously served as a house museum, apartments, and artist residency space since it was deeded to the City of Providence in 1908. Our president is in charge of eight Rhode Islanders who are in their first week of a Preservation Trades program. One of the best of this program is that they are getting paid to learn restoration techniques and embrace a preservationist mindset.

The project has started on the month of March 2024 as a Joint Venture created in association with the Providence Preservation Society and Providence Parks Department. We are ready to take off with this new challenge that will bring much benefit to both new generations of restorers, carpenters and construction workers who wish to learn the right techniques and improve their knowledge to perform their work better. This first group has been learning about masonry, finish carpentry, plaster and restoration of walls, door, floors and windows.

In a few weeks our community will have a group of new restorers ready to work. If you are interested in hiring new forces to your team of workers, feel free to contact us.
